"I had no motivation to not only stick to a workout routine, but to simply go to the gym. I needed accountability and reassurance that I could do it. Michelle made me accountable. If she thought that I was slipping into old habits, she would talk with me about them and possible solutions instead of chastising me for skipping workouts. Her technique helped me to develop these skills on my own and see the patterns that I was using to create barriers between myself and my goals. She also developed a great plan based on my end goals that kept me pushing my limits with new exercises and increasing weight. Her plans were always great and I would get excited when I would get to try new moves or lifts that I had never done before. I was also never concerned about my trainer not physically being there to watch because the videos and instructions sent with my workouts were always great and she was always eager to watch videos of me to help with form. Her feedback was fantastic and because of this I now feel confident in my bench press and my squat depth and form improved substantially. I realized that working with Michelle was my answer when I tried to make up an excuse for skipping a workout but knew that she would walk me through how I could overcome the obstacle so I decided it was easier to just work out! The other time I realized that working with Michelle was changing my problem and life was with my bench press. I was scared of it, and used it as a reason to skip bench press day all together. Michelle asked what was stopping me with this lift when I was eager and willing with everything else she had thrown at me. With her, I was able to process that I was scared and intimidated by previous attempts, my lack of experience, and perceived strength limitations. She challenged me to move outside of my comfort zone and to try the lift anyway and send video for form checks. I did the lift, with much better form and more weight than I had anticipated. The feeling of pride I had was immeasurable and the pride that I felt she had in me kept me motivated and feeling that I was not a "lifting fraud"; that I very much belonged in the weight room and that I was capable of excelling at lifts like I saw others around me doing. I am a much happier and level person. I now realize that what I once saw as problems prohibiting me from reaching my goals were actually excuses that I was telling myself to hide my fear of failing at something I really wanted. Instead of holding on to frustration and stress from things beyond my control and stewing about situations long after they happened, I channel it into my workouts as fuel for building myself in the way that I want. She taught me how to unapologetically say "This is my time. This is for me. You do not get to control or dictate it." and create a feeling of the gym being a "safe space" to let go and grow."

"I remember the exact moment: I was hiking Mount Sentinel in Missoula, MT--the same mountain I had hiked (houghing and puffing) many times the summer before. I walked to the mountain from home, to the top, and all the way back with ease. I hadn't felt that physically good for 15 years. I felt healthy, fit, successful; things I worked to achieve in the past, but never maintained. I felt even better knowing that I achieved this in a sustainable way. A way that gave me energy instead of taking it away. It felt amazing."
Tell us what life looks like now that your "problem" is being solved...
"Life looks 40 pounds lighter and a lot happier. I have built habits that are sustainable. I can't iterate the point enough: I feel like I get energy from working out, eating healthy food, and living an active lifestyle! But for once, I enjoy life as well. Michelle helped teach me that living a healthy lifestyle means LIVING and enjoying life. She taught me this in such a wonderfully supportive way and met me where I was at in life. I cannot thank her enough."
